Terms of Use

Last updated: 3 July 2026

By downloading or using Scanly, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

License

We grant you a personal, non exclusive, non transferable, revocable license to use Scanly on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own personal or internal business use, in line with the App Store Terms of Service.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse Scanly, and not to scan, store, or share content unlawfully or in a way that infringes the rights of others. You are solely responsible for the documents you create and for how you use and share them.

Your content

The documents you scan and create in Scanly belong to you and stay on your device. You are responsible for that content and for keeping your own backups.

AI features

Scanly offers optional AI features (Summarize and Translate). When you use them, the selected document's text is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to produce a result, as described in our Privacy Policy. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading, so do not rely on it for important decisions and always check it against the original document. Only use these features with content you are permitted to process, and note that your use is also subject to the provider's applicable terms.

Disclaimer

Scanly is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error free, or that scanning, text recognition, compression, or conversion will be perfectly accurate. Check important documents before relying on them.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of, or inability to use, Scanly.

Purchases

If Scanly offers optional paid features, purchases and any subscriptions are processed by Apple and governed by Apple's terms. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings.

Changes

We may update the app and these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date above. Continued use of Scanly after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law rules.
